Irwin Mitchell has promoted 14 of its lawyers to partner positions — with all the promotions awarded to women.
The appointments cover a range of practice areas including employment, public law, Court of Protection, medical negligence, serious injury, asbestos and occupational disease, family law, and the private client advisory team.
The newly promoted partners are located across the firm’s offices in Sheffield, Southampton, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds, Reading, and Nottingham.
Craig Marshall, chief executive at Irwin Mitchell, commented:
"It’s great to see the length of service and career progression that many of our promoted colleagues have experienced with us, along with the various career paths they have taken on their journey to promotion. Their dedication and adaptability are evident and means that each promoted colleague brings unique experiences and insights to our team."
In addition to the partner promotions, Irwin Mitchell has announced 52 promotions to associate, 32 to senior associate, and 21 to legal director roles. All promotions take effect from 1 May.
Meanwhile, international firm DLA Piper has revealed 65 partner promotions, effective 1 April in the US and Canada, and 1 May for EMEA and Asia Pacific.
Of the 65 newly promoted partners at DLA Piper, 15 are women. In the UK specifically, the gender split for new partners is three women and nine men.
DLA Piper’s corporate practice group has seen the highest number of promotions with 19 new partners. Other areas where partner promotions have been made include finance, litigation, real estate, employment, intellectual property and technology, tax, and regulatory and government affairs.
The distribution of new partners is predominantly across the US (23), followed by Europe (20), the UK (12), Canada (5), Ireland (2), and South Africa (2).
Charles Severs, international managing partner at DLA Piper, said:
