Case Study - Software Issues Causing a Change to Data

A couple of years ago we had an issue with one council that had a software update, which caused problems with the data being displayed in reports. 

The land charges officer was then faced with a backlog, so other council workers were drafted in without being fully trained. 

So what happened? 

We worked out that they were returning data for the properties that had already been returned by the Land Charges officer, but they were being returned with less information that the original. This was down to the council officers not being fully trained.  

And what did we do to fix this?

We suggested clients should take out an indemnity policy to cover for this at the time.

The issue is now resolved and there is a new Land Charges officer for this council.
